Flying Eagles seek redemption against Egypt

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will look to get their campaign back on track when they take on hosts Egypt in their second game at the ongoing 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

Ladan Bosso’s side lost 1-0 to the Cubs of Senegal in their opening fixture on Sunday.

The Young Pharaohs on the other hand were held to a 0-0 draw by a determined Mozambique side.

The Flying Eagles were unbeaten in 19 games before losing to Senegal, but will need to up their performance to have any chance of beating the Egyptians.

The seven-time champions were outplayed by the Senegalese and managed just one shot on target.

Talented midfielder Daniel Daga is expected to miss the game due to injury.

The Dakkada FC player was stretchered off in the first half against Senegal and there are fears he may not feature again in the competition.

Another defeat could end the Flying Eagles chances of progressing into the knockout round and also a berth at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
