FCT council poll: APC candidate wins Bwari chairmanship seat

‎Joshua Ishaku, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Bwari Area Council in the Saturday, February 21, Federal Capital Territory election has been declared the winner of the poll.

‎Ishaku was declared the winner of the Bwari Area Council seat on Sunday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

‎Announcing the result of the poll, the returning officer, Mohammed Nurudeen, the APC candidate won the election with 18,466 votes.

‎“I am the returning officer for the 2026 FCT Area Council, Bwari chairmanship held on February 21, 2026.

‎“That Joshua Ishaku, having certified the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” Nurudeen said.

‎The returning officer also noted that the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled a total of 4,254 votes, while Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) garnered 3,515 votes to secure the second and third places, respectively.

‎The election for the council was conducted in 10 wards including Igu, Shere, Dutse, Ushafa, Byazhin, Kuduru, Kubwa, Usuma, Bwari Central and Kawu.
