Falconets arrive Abuja from Costa Rica

The Falconets returned to Nigeria in the early hours of Thursday following their ouster from the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mohamed Sanusi and representative of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Toyin Ibitoye received the team on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The players and their officials had a torrid experience as they were stranded at the Istanbul Airport for 24 hours as a result of their inability to secure transit visas.

They were also delayed for more than three hours in Bogota, Colombia and one hour in Panama.

The Falconets lost 2-1 to the Netherlands in their quarter-final fixture at Costa Rica 2022.

Chris Danjuma’s side won all their group games against France, Korea Republic and Canada in the competition.
