Ex-federal lawmaker Cyril Egwuatu dies at 80

A former member of the House of Representatives Hon. Cyril Egwuatu, is dead. He was aged 80.


Egwuatu, who was elected on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), represented Onitsha North and South federal constituency between 2011 and 2015.


According to a statement by the family, Egwuatu, who trained as an engineer in the then Western Germany, died on March 31, 2026, at the National Orthopedic hospital, Enugu.


The late former Representative is survived by a wife and many children, among whom is Dr. Vivian Egwuatu, a lecturer at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.
Burial arrangements are to be announced by the family.
