A former Abia State governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Daniel Eke, has saluted the people of the state for demonstrating doggedness in electing Dr Alex Otti as the new Governor of Abia at the just concluded March 18 gubernatorial election.
Eke in a statement on Friday, congratulated Otti and said his emergence as the winner of the recently-concluded state governorship election was the collective will of Abia people who had longed for effective, purposeful and responsive leadership at all levels of leadership in the state.
He noted that the governor-elect possessed the required capacity, competence and expertises to address most of the fundamental challenges impeding the transformation of Abia State, and called on the people of the state to cooperate and support the incoming government.
He regretted that successive governments in Abia have failed to achieve tangible economic and infrastructural developments to improve the devastating situation of affairs in the state.
Eke further avowed that with Otti’s election as the new governor-elect of Abia State, citizens can look forward to uncommon transformation in the economy and other critical sectors of the state.
While urging aggrieved candidates of other political parties to accept defeat in good faith and join hands with the governor-elect in developing Abia, Eke urged Otti to be magnanimous in victory and to involve rivals who wish to work with him in the scheme of affairs of the state.
According to him: “Election has come and gone, and our focus should be directed to how we can join hands together and render maximum support to the new Governor-elect to enable him to hit the ground running in improving the economy and infrastructure of the state.”
