Election: Police announce restrictions in Taraba

The Taraba State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has announced a total restriction of movement for both individuals and vehicles in areas where rerun elections will hold on Saturday.

The areas are Jalingo, the state capital, as well as Yorro and Zing local government councils.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, Usman Abdullahi.

The rerun elections will hold in Jalingo, Yorro and Zing local government councils.

“In line with directives from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Ogbetokun, the Command announces a total restriction of movement for both individuals and vehicles across the mentioned LGAs on Election Day.

“The aim is to ensure public order management, the safety of voters, and to support security agencies in maintaining a peaceful electoral process,” the statement read.

However, vehicles and individuals engaged in essential services such as ambulances, medical emergencies, fire services and accredited members of the press within the affected councils, were exempted from the restriction.
