Eid-el-Kabir: Gov Idris urges prayers for peace, progress in Nigeria, Kebbi

‎Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has urged residents to uphold peace, unity and compassion as Muslims across the state celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

‎In his Sallah message, the governor called on citizens to use the period to pray for peace, stability and continued progress in Kebbi State and Nigeria, while also supporting the less privileged in their communities.

‎He said Eid-el-Kabir symbolises sacrifice, obedience, love and total submission to the will of Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS), urging residents to reflect on the virtues of tolerance, generosity and brotherhood during the celebration.

‎Governor Idris also appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and avoid being misled by politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that voters should assess aspirants based on integrity, credibility and performance rather than empty promises.

‎Addressing insecurity in parts of the state, the governor assured residents of his administration’s commitment to strengthening security efforts and supporting security agencies to tackle emerging threats.

‎He acknowledged that insecurity remains a national challenge but said the state government would continue to provide logistics and operational support to security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property.

‎The governor also appealed for patience over the persistent electricity challenges facing the state, assuring residents that efforts were ongoing to improve power supply through collaboration with the electricity distribution company and a committee set up to identify lasting solutions.

‎He commended traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies and labour unions for their support toward maintaining peace and stability in the state.

‎Governor Idris wished Muslims in Kebbi State and across Nigeria a peaceful, joyful and blessed Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
