Eid-el-Fitr: security beefed up in Kaduna as Muslims hold prayers

‎As Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, security has been beefed up in mosques, recreational facilities, and praying ground to protect lives, property and critical national assets in Kaduna state.


‎As early as 7.30am on Friday, March 20,2026, various mosques, praying ground around Kaduna metropolis were filled to capacity, waiting for Imams and other relevant authorities to start the Sallah sermon.


‎Although, Muslim security agents joined in the mosque/prayer ground, they were cautious of any security challenge.


‎News correspondent who visited Kurmin Mashi, Kakuri prayer ground and Kaduna central mosque, observed a heavy presence of security agencies like the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Police, DSS , vigilantes and others.


‎Although, the Eid-el-Fitr prayers lasted for a few hours, Alhaji Musa Ruwa, a lecturer with the Kaduna State University told news correspondent that he came out of the mosque spiritually fulfilled.


‎According to him, “It’s good to embark on fasting and prayers because I feel differently during these days of fasting, and mostly, I am happy Kaduna celebrates Sallah with happiness”.


‎Earlier, the Kaduna Police Command banned the use of knockout during the festive period.


‎In a statement by DSP Mansir Hassan, Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Police Command, the command said it has put in place robust security measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the State, adding that the Command has deployed tactical commanders, intelligence operatives and other personnel to all nooks and crannies of the state, including Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets, highways and other strategic locations to guarantee the safety of residents before, during and after the festivities.
