EFCC Investigating Former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika

The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has confirmed the probe of former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.

This followed reports that EFCC had arrested Sirika over an $8 billion contract fraud.

However, Olukoyede said EFCC was also investigating other people in the aviation industry alongside the former minister.

Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, the EFCC boss said: “Not only Hadi Sirika but so many other officials who have worked in that ministry in the last few years—we are investigating them.

“The investigation is ongoing and when we are through, we will let you see the report. There is nothing personal. It’s about the system and the national interest.

“Don’t make it look like EFCC is running after Sirika. No, it’s the system. We are investigating the Ministry of Aviation and when the time comes for us to release the report or go to court, you will see the details. Now, it’s too premature for us to
reveal what we have discovered. We are making progress.”
