Edo election: PDP says Okpebholo’s insecurity comment is ‘confession’ of APC’s plans

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned recent remarks by Monday Okpebholo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, describing them as a “confession.”

Okpebholo, while addressing supporters at a campaign rally in Ovia-North LGA, mistakenly stated that he would provide insecurity if elected governor.

“We’re going to provide you with insecurity,” Okpebholo said in a now-viral video clip, sparking widespread criticism.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba dismissed the claim that Okpebholo’s statement was a slip of the tongue, insisting it reflected the APC’s true intentions.

“The recent public comment by the APC candidate, Monday Okpebholo, that he will provide the people of Edo State with insecurity is not a slip but a subconscious confession triggered by the preponderance of APC meetings and discussions on schemes to visit the people of Edo State with violence before and during the election,” Ologunagba said.
