The leadership of the Igbo National Council (INC) has called on the government of Ebonyi State to drop all the charges levelled against the president of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Igboayaka O. Igboayaka.

INC, in partnership with 12 other civil society organisations in Nigeria also called on the commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State to do well by dropping the charges against Igboayaka

The youth president was earlier said to have been kidnapped in Imo State but the police in Ebonyi State announced that he was arrested by the Force.

In a statement issued by Chilos Godsent, the youth leader was reportedly picked up by the police in a “Neo-Mafia Gestapo-style operation” during his victory celebration in Owerri.

Godsent urged youth and activists across the nation to rally support for Igboayaka as he is billed to appear at the Magistrate Court in Abakaliki.

He called on the president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, John Mbata, to intervene in the matter and maintain unity among all Igbo organisations.
