DHQ Breaks Silence on Probe of Tinubu’s Minister, Others in Connection to Banditry Claims

The Defence Headquarters has finally addressed the lingering allegations of bandit sponsorship in the North West region, involving high-ranking officials including the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

News reports stated that Zamfara Governor, Dauda Lawal, is embroiled in a heated exchange with his predecessor, Matawalle, over the sponsorship of bandits.

At a press briefing on Thursday, Director of Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, assured that relevant agencies are diligently investigating the matter.

While not naming individuals, Buba stated announcements would be made soon.

“We are investigating the allegations, and relevant agencies are doing a good job,” Buba said. “Sooner than later, you will hear some announcements in that regard.”

Buba said the military is focused on destroying bandits. “Winning a war is destroying the enemy’s will to fight,” he said. “When you destroy the enemy’s will to fight, the war is over, you have won the war. And that’s why we are focused on destroying the enemy’s will to fight.”
