Delta State: Suspected thugs attack, wound Corp members, INEC officials, snatch BVAS, others

Suspected thugs have allegedly attacked and wounded some youth Corp members and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The thugs also snatched three BVAS machines and other sensitive election materials in Evwreni community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Voting has been disrupted in virtually all polling units as a result of the alleged attacks by the suspected thugs.

The incident is causing serious tension in the area which is home to the founding member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Olorogun Otega Emerhor.

A team of journalists monitoring the election exercise were prevented from entering the community by the rampaging thugs.

It was learnt that the suspected thugs carried out the attacks under the orders of a serving Commissioner in the state as security personnel sent to the community were seen to have been allegedly compromised.

They Police were alleged to be present and watched as the suspected thugs carried out the unwholesome acts.
