Delta Governor Speaks on Plans to Dump Party

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has reacted to reports that he was leaving his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor’s reaction was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, January 7, by his chief press secretary, Festus Ahon.

Ahon said the report published in some sections of the media is baseless and can only be described as the handiwork of elements from the opposition.

“Governor Oborevwori is widely accepted by well-meaning Deltans and residents. He has no reason to leave the PDP,” he said.

He further urged the people of Delta State and the general public to disregard the report of the governor’s possible defection from PDP to APC.
