Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly Hon. Umar Yusuf has said that Kogi State Government is committed to building a robust relationship with the Dangote Cement Plc.
The Speaker made this statement, Thursday, in Lokoja during the handover ceremony of a multi-million-naira Security Outpost built by Dangote Cement Plc.
The Security Outpost, sited within the premises of the State House of Assembly in Lokoja, is to enhance the performance of the security architecture of the House of the Assembly.
He commended the company for supporting the State in the maintenance of peace and security.
“This act of generosity has further cemented our relationship. We sincerely appreciate the gesture, and we are not taking it for granted,” the Speaker said.
He commended the founder of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, for his foresight, business acumen and humanitarian services.
Reacting, Plant Director, Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana Plant, Engr. Azad Nawabuddin, said the security of the people of Kogi State is germane to the overall business continuity of the company.
Engr. Nawabuddin, who was represented by the Company’s General Manager, Human Asset Management and Admin, Mr. Adeniyi Azeez, added: “This gesture is more than just giving back. It is about working together to create long-lasting partnerships that uplift both our Company and Kogi State. Security, sustainability, and prosperity go hand in hand. As we continue to contribute to your growth and safety, we are confident that together we can build a secure, healthy, and prosperous future.”
According to him, “Dangote Cement Plc recognizes that our success is not only measured by our achievements but by the positive impact we make in the State. Corporate Social Responsibility is at the core of our business strategy, and through it, we aim to drive sustainable development, strengthen local economies, and support the security and social welfare of our host state.”
Speaking to newsmen during a tour of the security Outpost General Manager Community Affairs and Special Duties, Mr. Ademola Adeyemi, said the donation was one of the several contributions of the company to the peace, security and development in the state.
He also revealed that there are several projects lined up to be implemented for host communities in the state.
Also present at the event were: Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Comfort Uchola Egwaba, Hon Bode Ogunmola, Hon Maikudi Idris, Hon Anthony Ujah, Hon Olawumi Jacob, and chairman of the Kogi State House of Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Sule Ahmed, among others.
