Customs Officer Dies During Testimony Before Reps Panel

An officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, on Tuesday, died while making an appearance before a Committee of the House of Representatives.

The officer died while appearing before the House Committee on Public Account and developed some health complications during the encounter, the House announced.

Akin Rotimi, the spokesperson of the House confirmed the death of the officer but declined to reveal the name in respect to the family of the officer.

“During the engagement, which occurred around 1.00pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the official developed sudden health complications. Despite the immediate and diligent efforts of first responders and medical personnel at the National Assembly Clinic, he unfortunately passed away.

“Out of respect for the family, the official’s name will not be disclosed at this time,” Mr Rotimi said.
