The Edo State Police Command has arrested five suspected cultists for allegedly fighting over the non-attendance of monthly meeting and payment of dues.
According to reports, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP, Chidi Nwabuzor, disclosed this to newsmen in Benin City.
Nwabuzor said the suspects were arrested for conspiracy and cultism.
He gave the names of the suspects as Emeka Eke, Chizoba Okolie, Samson Ochonobor, Friday Agbebayo and Julius Eguasa.
The Command’s image maker said four of the suspects, Emeka Eke, Chizoba Okolie, samson Ochonobo and Friday Abgebayo were allegedly beating Julius Eguasa for failing to attend their meetings as well as not paying monthly dues to the confraternity before they were arrested.
He said the suspects, who are members of Eiye confraternity, were arrested while fighting at Ramat Park, Benin City, by the operatives of the anti-kidnapping and cyber crime unit of the Command.
He explained that during interrogation it was discovered that the suspect were members of Eiye confraternity.
He added that the suspects, who are currently helping the police with investigations, will soon be charged to court.
