Toward fulfilling it’s Cooperate Social Responsibility the host communities, BN Ceramics Industry located in Ajaoukta local government area of Kogi state have given bursary awards worth N.9 million naira to school children of the mine sites host communities.
The Human Resources Manager, Mallam Salihu Mohammed disclosed this while presenting cheques to the children over the weekend.
According to him the mine sites host communities are Igebije, Adumu and Achigili communities all in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
He mentioned that the award presentation is in line with the policy of the company and in compliance with the community development agreement as provided by the Mining Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He noted that in all fifteen children are privileged to have been selected through a pain staking process that involved the community leaders and traditional chiefs.
“Each community has two children for tertiary institutions and three children for Junior Secondary school
” The gesture is to show our appreciation to these communities given their support and partnership over the years. We assure you all that management would in due course sustain this relationship by providing some other interventions such as water sanitation and healthcare.
In his remark, one of the traditional ruler who accompany the children, Chief Dr. Yunusa Ali commended the BN Ceramics Industry for their kind gesture.
He noted that the communities will continue to cooperate with the management of the industry so that better things can come to the communities.
He appeal to the management to provide them with boreholes so that they can have asses to good portable drinking water and also road to enable them travel from their various communities to other towns and villages.
