Court nullifies Idris’ emergence as APC candidate for Kazaure constituency

A Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, has nullified the election of Muhammad Haruna Idris as the All Progressives Congress, APC, Kazaure Constituency state House of Assembly flagbearer.

The serving member representing Kazaure constituency, Hon. Bala Hamza Gada Kazaure, had filed a case before the court challenging the process of Idris’s election.

The member alleged that the candidate did not have the requirement to contest the election based on the school certificates he presented and some of the delegates were disenfranchised during the primary election.

Presiding judge, Justice Hassan Dikko said that the prosecuting counsel proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that the candidate did not satisfy requirements to contest the primary election.

In his judgment, Dikko nullified the election of Muhammad Haruna Idris and also declared another contestant, Barrister Bala Hamza Gada as a winner of the election.

Reacting to the judgment, counsel to the complainant Barrister Ibrahim Sa’ad expressed his satisfaction on the outcome of the judgement.

Also member representing Kazaure constituency Bar. Bala Hamza Gada expressed his happiness over the court judgement.

He said the judgement is a victory to the rule of law and called on his opponent to come and join hands for the victory of APC at all levels.
