Court gives tenant 3 months to vacate apartment over rent

An Area Court in Ilorin on Thursday ordered Mama Wariz, a tenant, to vacate her rented apartment within three months for failure to pay rent.

The presiding Judge, AbdulQadir Ibrahim, ordered the tenant to pay all her owed rent, at least one week before vacating the house.

He, however, advised the tenant to vacate the house on or before the agreed date, to save her embarrassment of forceful eviction.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Rukayat AbdulFatai, had earlier told the court that the tenant owed one month rent and does not have the intention to pay.

Mama Wariz agreed to have owed one month rent, but pleaded for three months, to enable her move out of the house and promised to pay all her owed rent.

She promised to pay the outstanding rent of N2, 000 and the three months that she would spend before vacating the house.
