Coronation Ceremony of Captain Aliyu Yakubu as Abeneche Attah-Igala Scheduled for April 4


A special invitation has been announced for the coronation of Aliyu Yakubu, who will be installed as the Abeneche Attah-Igala in the Igala Kingdom.

The ceremony will be performed by Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa, the Ata‑Igala and President of the Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers.


According to the invitation, the coronation is scheduled to take place on April 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ata Igala Palace in Idah, Kogi State.

The event is expected to attract traditional rulers, community leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers from across the state and beyond, as they gather to witness the formal installation of Captain Yakubu into the revered traditional title within the Igala cultural institution.


The Abeneche title is regarded as an important position within the traditional structure of the Igala Kingdom, and the coronation is anticipated to further strengthen cultural heritage and community leadership in the area.

Organisers say the ceremony will feature traditional rites and cultural displays reflecting the rich heritage of the Igala people.
