Coalition hails appointment of acting Immigration CG, passes vote of confidence, demands substantive appointment

The Coalition for Good Governance and Renewed Hope (CGGHH) has passed a vote of confidence on the acting Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, DCG Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola.

The Coalition, at a press conference on Thursday, said after appraising Wura-Ola’s time in office, it has found her worthy to be named the substantive CG.

In his address, the convener of the group, Daniel Okwa, said Wura-Ola flaunts an impressive track record throughout her illustrious career spanning several decades of exceptional service to the country.

Okwa said her appointment did not surprise various stakeholders who have followed her trajectory in service and her enormous contributions to the Nigerian Immigration Service over the years.

“The Acting Comptroller General is indeed a thoroughbred professional who, in her capacity, has contributed immensely to the reforms initiated in the operations of the Nigerian Immigration Service,” he added.

“Given her track record, her suitability for the task is not questioned. Her wealth of experience is invaluable to the new administration in the efforts to improve the operational efficiency of the Nigerian Immigration Service, in line with the renewed hope mantra of the new government.

“As the most senior DCG within the ranks, she is ebulliently conversant with the operations of the NIS. She is in a prime position to translate the new administration’s vision into tangible realities if given the mandate as substantive Comptroller General.”

The Coalition for Good Governance and Renewed Hope, therefore, called on the relevant authorities to see to the confirmation of DCG Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola as the substantive Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service.

He added: “The Nigerian Immigration Service has recently improved service delivery, and it behoves that strategic steps are taken towards sustaining the tempo and improving the laudable reforms introduced.

“The acting Comptroller General has displayed capacity and competence for the job as substantive Comptroller General of Immigration. The Coalition for Good Governance and Renewed Hope recognizes the strength of character of the acting Comptroller General and uses this medium to drum support for her confirmation as substantive Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service.

“The Coalition for Good Governance and Renewed Hope is in tandem with the Renewed Hope agenda of the new administration, and we pledge our support towards efforts at bringing about sustainable growth and development.”
