Coach leaves Arsenal as Xhaka’s exit is confirmed

One of Mikel Arteta’s assistant coaches at Arsenal, Steve Round, has left the club.

According to CBS Sports, Round leaves the Emirates on mutual agreement.

The former Everton coach has been with Arteta since he got the job in December 2019.

Staff at the club were made aware of the news Thursday afternoon in an email from Sporting Director, Edu, who wrote: “As preparations for the new men’s season get underway we can confirm Steve Round has left the club by mutual agreement.”

His departure comes on the same day Arsenal have given the green light for Granit Xhaka to complete his move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Xhaka has now undergone medicals with the Bundesliga club and an official announcement is imminent.

Arteta was unwilling to sanction his departure until a deal for Declan Rice was sealed.
