Chelsea are considering a move to sign their former player, Marc Guehi as a replacement for Wesley Fofana, who is set to miss the majority of the upcoming 2023/24 season after undergoing knee surgery a few days ago.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea are interested in a move for Guehi, who currently plays for Crystal Palace, and are weighing up whether to submit a bid for the former Swansea City star.

The report added that the Blues are not considering a move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, who was stripped of the Red Devils’ captaincy by manager Erik ten Hag last weekend.

Guehi, meanwhile, has impressed since joining Crystal Palace in an £18million deal from Chelsea in 2021.

Chelsea will have to battle Arsenal and Tottenham, who are also interested in Guehi, but as part of their agreement with Palace, the west London club do have the option to match any rival bids for the defender.

Meanwhile, following Fofana’s surgery, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino now has the likes of Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile and Levi Colwill as his four options in central defence. Badiashile is also injured and could miss the start of the season.
