Catholic Priest urges mothers to take care of families

A Cleric, Rev. Fr. Longinus Ugonwa, has called on mothers to always take adequate care of their families and also monitor the activities of their children.

Ugonwa, the Parish Priest of Christ the King Parish, GRA, Enugu, made the call in Enugu on Sunday during his sermon to mark 2023 Mothering Sunday.

He said that monitoring the activities of their children would enable mothers to know when their children are going astray in order to call them back.

The cleric lamented that many mothers were ignorant of abuse happening under their noses and called on the mothers to wake up to their responsibilities.

He reminded them that Mothering Sunday was celebrated annually by the church to appreciate the efforts of the mothers in the families, especially pertaining to the upbringing of children.

According to him, society will not be peaceful, if the family is not in order.

While wishing mothers a happy Mothering Sunday celebration, Ugonwa urged fathers to join hands with their wives in order to make their individual families a worthy one.

In an interview with newsmen, Mrs. Gloria Enyivigbo thanked God for witnessing another Mothering Sunday, saying that she would endeavour to train her children in a Godly way.

She urged fellow mothers to always pray to God for wisdom and direction to enable them to discharge their motherly roles effectively.
