CAFWCL: Bayelsa Queens made things difficult for us – Sundowns midfielder, Morifi

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Chuene Morifi has admitted that Bayelsa Queens gave his side a good fight in their CAF Women’s Champions League clash on Monday.

The holders prevailed 2-1 at the Stade de Grande Marrakech but were made to sweat by the Nigerians.

Lelona Daweti bagged a brace for the Brazilians who withstood late pressure after Mary- Mary-Magdalene Anjor pulled a goal back for the Prosperity Girls 10 minutes from time.

“This was a very tough game for us because Bayelsa Queens are a top side in Nigeria who possess several players from the national team,” Morifi told the club’s official website.

” Things were a bit difficult for us in the early period, but we managed to settle in and take control of the game.

” We converted our chances when they came, and we are pleased with the outcome of the fixture. We are eagerly looking forward to the next game.”

Both teams will return to the pitch again on Thursday. Sundowns will be up against Egypt’s Wadi Degla, while Bayelsa Queens will keep a date with TP Mazembe of Congo Democratic Republic.
