Bukkykoga: Rising change agent of social business

The fashion landscape in Nigeria has been going through a fast-paced evolution in the past decade with the emergence of new, younger, smarter, ambitious and business-savvy fashion entrepreneurs who are pushing the boundary of what used to be the fashion ecosystem of Nigeria and Africa.

One of such change agents wielding a huge influence presently on the social scene is Bukonla Ifedayo Esan, popularly known as Bukkykoga. The founder and CEO of two vibrant businesses, a fashion and styling company, BKGlam International and an event outfit, BKGlam Events, Bukkykoga has successfully built a business empire in the social market, where class and style are the dominant service’s selling points.

Bukkykoga―who attained British citizenship after studying and living in the UK for many years―earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Human resources from the Plymouth University, and successfully planted her businesses in London and Lagos, thereby taking advantage of the business opportunities in two of world’s populous and economic cities.

The rise of her BKGlam brands to celebrity status epitomises the growing power of contemporary female entrepreneurs. She not only currently sits at the summit of event planning and celebrity fashion styling, but her success has also propelled her to the pedestal of Forbes’ age-grade millionaire club.

The calibre of her clientele―which includes celebrities like Toyin Abraham, Kemi Afolabi, Queenola and Dr Ololade Abuta among others―further reinforces her credential as a top-notch professional. At the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award, the BKGlam brand was prominent on the fashion styling plane as top celebrities rocked the brand’s wear.

What’s more, Bukkykoga has also made her mark as a first-class event planner having handled some of the biggest and most glamorous events of the past three years in Nigeria including the 5,000-guest OVA35 party of Ololade Abuta, and other extravagant weddings and birthdays.
