Botswana go top of Super Falcons’ group after Burundi win

Botswana have gone top of Group C at the ongoing 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

This follows their 4-2 victory over fellow debutants Burundi on Monday.

Keitumetse Dithebe gave Botswana the lead with two minutes left before the break.

Almost immediately after the restart, it was 2-0 thanks to Lesego Radiakanyo.

Sandrine Niyonkuru pulled one back in the 52nd minute, but Refilwe Tholakele restored the two-goal advantage.

Tholakele got her brace to make it 4-1 before Niyonkuru grabbed her second to end the game 4-2.

South Africa are in second place after they defeated Nigeria’s Super Falcons 2-1.

Both teams will be back in action on Thursday with Botswana facing Nigeria, while South Africa will battle Burundi.
