Former special adviser to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari on prosecution, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla has called on Governor Bassey Otu to distance himself from crowds of lobbyists and party men with nepotic, tribalistic and retrogressive influences.
In a statement Tuesday morning, Obono-Obla, an APC stalwart, said Otu should be wary of party chieftains with such traits who are presently inundating him.
“Governor Bassey Otu should not allow party chieftains influence the appointment of nitwits, mediocre, plain opportunists, lackeys, stooges, and proteges of unprincipled party apparatchiks, and members of every government in the party.
“Also, those who have previously served in the previous government should not be appointed under any guise,” he said.
He emphasized that the state more than any time needs fresh hands, virile brains, and vibrant appointees.
“We need competent, industrious, visionary, passionate, professional, and patriotic people to help the state governor drive his vision,” he said.
Obono-Obla emphasised that the state must be resuscitated to take its rightful place in the comity of States of Nigeria, being one of the oldest States.
According to him, the state’s public service is tottering on the brink and is almost broken and needs to be restored.
