The Better Life Movement for the Empowerment of the Youths and Grassroots (BLMEYG) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for implementing reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria through infrastructure development, economic revitalisation and youth-focused policies.
The group also praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what it described as the remarkable transformation of Abuja through extensive infrastructure renewal, urban development and initiatives designed to improve residents’ welfare and expand opportunities for indigenous communities.
The commendation was made by the National Convener of the movement, Comrade Anas Tanko Yamawo, after a solidarity visit to the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the FCT, Hon. Issyaku Tanko Yamawo.
The delegation comprised members of the movement’s National Executive Committee, state coordinators and representatives from its structures across the country.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Anas Yamawo said the ongoing transformation of the nation’s capital demonstrates that purposeful leadership, political will and strategic investments can deliver meaningful development.
He said the extensive road construction, urban renewal projects and other infrastructural interventions had significantly changed the landscape of the FCT while ensuring that indigenous residents were not excluded from the development process.
According to him, the progress recorded in Abuja should serve as a model for development across the 36 states of the federation.
“What is being achieved in Abuja proves that every community can benefit from quality roads, improved schools, accessible healthcare, economic opportunities, security and infrastructure capable of attracting investment and creating jobs,” he said.
The BLMEYG national convener noted that nation-building requires courage, difficult decisions and sustained commitment, stressing that governments should be encouraged whenever they pursue policies capable of delivering long-term benefits to citizens.
He added that the movement would continue to support programmes and initiatives that improve the welfare of Nigerians while encouraging leaders at all levels to remain committed to delivering the dividends of democracy.
Anas Yamawo also commended the leadership of the APC FCT chairman, describing him as a grassroots politician whose accessibility and engagement with young people had strengthened political participation in the territory.
He said discussions during the visit centred on issues affecting youths, grassroots communities and the need to strengthen collaboration between government institutions, political leaders and community-based organisations.
According to him, the Better Life Movement remains a non-partisan national platform committed to youth empowerment, leadership development, entrepreneurship, civic participation and grassroots development.
He explained that although members of the organisation belong to different political parties, ethnic groups and religious backgrounds, they are united by a shared commitment to supporting policies that promote national development and improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
He said the movement would continue to expand its activities nationwide through leadership development programmes, skills acquisition initiatives, civic education campaigns, community development projects and strategic partnerships aimed at creating sustainable opportunities for young Nigerians.
The convener further called on governments at all levels, development partners, corporate organisations, traditional institutions and philanthropic bodies to invest more deliberately in youth development and grassroots communities.
He reaffirmed the movement’s readiness to partner with government institutions, the private sector and development agencies in advancing programmes that promote national unity, economic growth, peace and inclusive development.
The movement also urged Nigerians to remain optimistic, participate actively in the democratic process and continue supporting initiatives that foster sustainable national development.
