Chelsea’s latest signing, Gabriel Slonina, has described the club as the best in London after completing his move to Stamford Bridge.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper says he is ‘honoured’ to join the ‘best team in London’ after joining for £15m.
Chelsea confirmed the recruitment of the American goalkeeper from MLS side Chicago Fire on Tuesday.
Slonina will return to Chicago on loan before joining up with Thomas Tuchel’s squad at the start of 2023.
The teenager has made 34 first-team appearances for Chicago Fire and has long been tipped as a future United States goalkeeper.
After signing a six-year deal with Chelsea, Slonina wrote on social media: “Honoured to join such a massive club with so much history. It’s a privilege to wear the badge of the best side in London.
“Thank you to all the fans for the warm welcome. Can’t wait to get started!”
