Bayelsa State earmarks N77.92b to tackle flood, others

The Bayelsa State government has earmarked N77.92 billion to tackle flooding and other infrastructural projects, representing 20 percent of the proposed N385.2b total budget for its 2023 fiscal year.

Governor Douye Diri disclosed on Monday that the budget, themed, ‘Budget of sustainable growth and reconstruction’, would address the state’s challenges.

He noted that the government would prioritise the building, reconstructing areas degraded by floods.

The governor added that the budget would be financed from multiple sources including the monthly Federation Accounts Allocation Committee to the tune of N153.51bn, representing 40 per cent of the total budget.

Further sectoral breakdown of the budget indicated that the Education Ministry got N40.46bn.

Personal cost, overhead cost, capital expenditure, pension and gratuities, public debt servicing and contributory pension, LG RDAs and SUBEB received a total of N378.5 billion.
