Bandits’ commander linked to Sokoto Traditional leader’s murder captured

Bako Wurgi, a notorious bandit leader who has been linked to the murder of the Emir of Gobir Isa Mohammad Bawa has been captured by the Nigerian Army.

A Sokoto traditional leader, the Emir of Gobir was kidnapped and killed by Wurgi and his gang on July 9.

Wurgi, popularly known as Bako NaGarba was sad to have been arrested at about 10 pm on December 14, by troops of the 1 Brigade.

Also known the be involved in arms dealing and well-connected Internationally, Wurgi was arrested while receiving treatment at a hospital in Shinkafi town of Zamfara State.

He was receiving treatment for some cuts and gunshot wounds he sustained during a clash with a rival group.

Related to another notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, Wurgi is said to be the father of Sani Duna who allegedly works as a biker for the former.

Sources said that while he is being held at an unknown facility, there is an ongoing manhunt for his gang members.
