Bandit turbaning: Dissolve Yandoto emirate, sack Commissioner for internal security – Activist to Gov Matawalle

A member of the Fulani Initiative for the Protection of the Environment and less Privileged (FUPEL) a non-governmental organization based in Zamfara, Bachiri Sarkin Fulani has urged Governor Bello Matawalle to dissolve the Yandoto Emirate if the Emir is found wanting.

He also advised the Governor to remove the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs as well as the Council Sole Administrator for participating in the turbaning of a known bandit.

Bachiri made the call in a statement made available to Newsmen in Kaduna on Monday,

He said, “if after investigation the Emir is indicted regarding the entire scenario leading to the turbaning of the bandit leader, Ado Aleru, the Governor needs to dissolve the entire Emirate of Yandoto.

He described as unfortunate, how the exercise resulted in monumental embarrassment for the entire state noting that the Governor needs to sit up and take full responsibility for the state before some vested interest drags it into serious confusion.

He wondered how such a serious decision can be taken without the full involvement of the government, adding that the step taken to investigate the Emir after his suspension is the right one, especially at this material time when the whole country is looking inward on Zamfara to be able to end the scourge of murderous killing.

He said, “it is unfortunate that the Governor is doing something else to get the problem solved and another group of people are doing another different thing and this will lead to more serious confusion in the state.
