Bago declares October 30, 31 public holidays ahead of Niger LG election

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has declared Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31, 2025, as work-free days across the state.

The move is to allow residents to fully participate in the local government elections set for Saturday, November 1, 2025.

According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, the holidays will give eligible voters enough time to go to their polling units and vote.

All markets, banks, and public offices will remain closed during the two days. Movement will also be restricted except for those on essential duties.

The government urged citizens to come out in large numbers and choose capable leaders who will drive development at the grassroots.

Governor Bago also directed all security agencies to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.
