Avoid acts of misconduct – New Kwara Customs boss, Bello tells officers

Aliyu Gaya Bello, new Comptroller, Kwara State Customs Command, has cautioned officers of the command against negative acts.

He warned that such acts will not be tolerated under his watch.

Bello stated this at the handover ceremony from his predecessor, H.B.Ahmed, at the Customs Command headquarters in Ilorin on Thursday.

The new boss, charged officers to imbibe the culture of transparency and professionalism while discharging their responsibilities.

He said, “We have to intensify efforts to collect maximum revenue and suppress smuggling to the barest minimum.”

Bello, who was transferred from Zone A headquarters, Lagos, said he will consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor.

The outgoing comptroller, Ahmed, had in his remarks, appealed to the officers and men of the command to extend the same support and cooperation he enjoyed to his successor.

Ahmed, now redeployed to Zone D, Bauchi state, thanked the Comptroller General of Customs and management for the opportunity given him to serve as area comptroller.

He urged the officers to accord the incoming comptroller maximum support to effectively discharge the new responsibility bestowed upon him.

The change of baton was effected following the recent redeployment of comptrollers approved by the Comptroller General of Customs, a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Chado Zakari, announced in Ilorin on Thursday.
