AUPCTRE Empowers Women to Thrive Amidst Economic Challenges

The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) Federal Capital Territory Women Committee has launched a groundbreaking initiative to equip hundreds of its members with vital skills.

“We recognize the economic hardships faced by our members. Our union is committed to empowering women with extra income-generating skills to overcome these challenges,” declared Comrade Altine Tabak, FCT Chairperson of AUPCTRE Women Committee, during a skill empowerment conference in Abuja on Thursday.

Comrade Altine Tabak announced that the program aims to foster financial independence, promote skill development, and entrepreneurship among hundreds of women, as it will provide women with essential skills to supplement their income, start businesses, and enhance economic stability.

This empowerment drive is part of AUPCTRE’s commitment to supporting its members’ welfare and economic well-being

Comrade Tabak also acknowledged the union leadership’s efforts to promote gender mainstreaming, recognizing the vital role women play in the union’s success.

Comrade Sikiru Waheed, General Secretary of AUPCTRE, has praised the Women Committee and FCT Council for their relentless efforts in empowering women. He acknowledged the current economic challenges and inflation, but reassured that the Nigerian Labour Congress is working hard to develop plans to alleviate the hardship.

Waheed emphasized AUPCTRE’s dedication to social democracy, highlighting core values such as integrity, solidarity, and social justice. By prioritizing workers’ welfare, promoting collective bargaining, and fostering human capital development, the union aims to create a fairer environment for all members

AUPCTRE’s commitment to social democracy is crucial, especially during these challenging times. By promoting workers’ rights and welfare, the union is helping to build a more just and equitable society, Waheed Said

AUPCTRE leadership is urging workers to unite and support the Nigerian Labour Congress’s (NLC) decisions amidst challenging times. This call to action was reinforced at the FCT AUPCTRE women’s committee conference, attended by veteran union members Comrade Linda Barau and Comrade Queen Ann.

The FCT Council Chairman, represented by Vice Chairman Comrade Briggs, assured the women’s committee of continued welfare support.
