August 1 Protest: Presidency cannot Stop Nigerians – Tinubu’s aide, Ngelale

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, has said nobody can stop the citizens from protesting.

Ngelale stated this during an interview on a TVC programme, Politics on Sunday with Femi Akande.

The spokesperson was addressing concerns about the Tinubu government’s stance on peaceful protests planned for August 1-10.

He insisted that the current administration does not want to “dominate” Nigerians.

Ngelale said, “Let me be clear: we are not in office to dominate our people; we are here to serve them”.

He insisted that no organ of the administration “has the authority” to prevent Nigerians from protesting.

“No one in our administration has the authority to deny Nigerians their right to peaceful protest,” Ngelale said.

He however acknowledged fears surrounding a potential hijack of the protests similar to the #EndSARS movement of 2020.
