Atiku asks court to disqualify Tinubu over NYSC certificate

‎African Democratic Congress, ADC, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from participating in the 2027 presidential election.

‎Atiku is seeking Tinubu’s disqualification over an alleged forged NYSC discharge certificate which the plaintiffs claim was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

‎According to the plaintiffs, the NYSC certificate submitted to INEC bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” which they said differs from the President’s name, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

‎The plaintiffs are asking the court to determine whether the alleged discrepancy in the certificate affects Tinubu’s qualification to contest the 2027 presidential election.

‎The suit also challenges provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 in relation to the qualification of presidential candidates.
