Former Manchester United centre-back, Rio Ferdinand, believes Arsenal are now in a real direction under their manager Mikel Arteta.
Ferdinand said this as Arteta’s men defeated Liverpool 3-2 in a Premier League tie on Sunday.
The former England international lauded Arsenal for backing Arteta through various ups and downs over the course of three years.
Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand “Arsenal are the real deal, simple as that. You look at their team and the way he [Mikel Arteta] is building it. One thing you do have to give Arsenal credit for, the hierarchy especially, is the time they’ve given him. I have heard their fans saying, ‘Oh, we want Arteta out’ at times.
“But the board was patient. They’ve given him license to go and make big decisions within that club. Now you can see a club with a real direction. Arteta is a great example to other football clubs who are making really big decisions in chopping and changing managers.”
