Army Renames Ikeja Cantonment After Late COAS Lagbaja

The Nigerian Army has renamed the Ikeja Cantonment after the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

Ikeja cantonment is now to be referred to as ‘T. A. Lagbaja Cantonment’.

Details of the renaming of the military facily was disclosed on X by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Sanwo-Olu,

The renaming of the military cantonment comes barely four months after the former COAS died following a brief illness.

Lagbaja, who served as the Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria from June 2023 to November 2024, died on November 5, 2024, at the age of 56.

Present at the event which took place on Friday, February 28, were the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa and other service chiefs.
