The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South South Zone has said it is confident of victory in the forthcoming Edo State governorship polls.
APC leaders from the zone stated this at a stakeholders meeting called to address issues in the party in the zone
Speaking shortly after his confirmation as party leader in the region, Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu, said having been conferred with responsibility of zonal leadership, he would work towards sustainability, unity and peace in the region.
Otu said he remains the only APC governor in the zone, promising to lead the party to victory in the forthcoming Edo State governorship elections.
“We need to come together to deepen the APC in the South-South. Today, Cross River State is the only APC state in the South-South.
“We want to increase that number before we go to the next general election.” He said.
Also, zonal vice chairman of APC, Chief Victor Gaidom, said the meeting attended by chairmen of the party from various states within the zone, resulted in a unanimous decision to work in synergy to strengthen the party in the zone and ensure the party emerges victorious in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election.
“We are using this opportunity to issue a warning to other political parties in Edo State, letting them know that the APC is ready to collect back the governance of the state.”
He stressed that having been conferred with the responsibility of zonal leadership of the party, he would work very hard towards the sustenance of unity and peace in the region.
