The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Upper House of the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Victor Umeh, has shared 1,200 bags of 50kg fertilizer to farmers within his Constituency to help boost productivity in the current farming season.

This was revealed in a report posted on the facebook page of an aide to the Senator, Charles Ifeanyi Obi.

According to the report, “The Event which took place at Umugbulu village hall, Nise in Awka South LGA of Anambra State was witnessed by the Chairman of Anambra Central Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRH Igwe Damian O. Ezeani (Igwe Ezeani Ugonabo na Neni) and the Traditional Ruler of Obeledu, HRH Igwe A.C. At the Event, Senator Umeh was said to have charged representatives of communities “to ensure timely distribution of the fertilizers to Farmers at no cost pointing out that timely and proper use would aid bumper yields and enormous harvests that would mitigate the ravaging effects of food scarcity and hunger.”

“We will not be hungry again,” Senator Umeh declared while giving hope to the people.

He emphasized that “the Government alone cannot feed the entire Citizens but through support for agriculture, farmers can produce enough food that will solve the issue of hunger and poverty.”

Umeh who earlier in the year, as contained in the report, had attracted and distributed over 13,000 bags of rice to Ndị Anambra Central, also commended the Federal Government for the efforts in managing the food crisis in the Country through provision of food palliatives and support for agriculture, stressing that “no amount of food palliatives would suffice for resolving the already alarming issues of hunger in Nigeria but through support for Farmers, the harvests would go a long way.”

He further assured his Constituents of his commitment to his job and ensuring that none of their entitlements is lost, adding that he would continue to look for opportunities to attract more meaningful resources and projects that will impact lives positively and improve the welfare of the people.

The Senator also disclosed plans to attract supports for poultry farmers, aquaculture and others.

He equally enjoined the people of Anambra Central to be patient with the delayed implementation of the 2023 Constituency Projects assuring them that in no long time, work would commence at the various sites already allotted and captured for the projects, including the 50 million naira scholarship scheme for students.

In their respective speeches, the representatives of Ohaneze Ndigbo, ASATU and Farmers’ Cooperatives applauded the Senator for his effective and visionary representation of Anambra Central in the Senate, while assuring him of the timely and proper use of the fertilizers.
