Amid nationwide protests: Gov. Otu commends Cross Riverians for exemplary conduct

In a heartfelt message to the people of Cross River State, Governor Bassey Otu, Wednesday, expressed his gratitude for their exemplary behavior in the ongoing nationwide protests

The Governor commended Cross Riverians for their patriotism, civility, maturity, solidarity, and understanding, noting that their actions have set a remarkable example for others to follow.

In a thank you message entitled “Working towards achieving a better future for Cross River”, issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Linus Obogo, Otu emphasized the importance of patriotism, stating that “true patriotism is reflected in actions that prioritize the common good over individual grievances. I want to specially thank fellow Cross Riverians for choosing constructive dialogue over chaos. I want to thank you most profoundly for your wisdom in recognizing that unity and cooperation are essential for progress.”

The Governor also lauded the citizens for their civility during the tumultuous period, noting that “your ability to maintain a calm and respectful demeanor is a testament to your maturity,” emphasizing that “true change comes from peaceful engagement rather than violence. I commend you for choosing the high road.”

Furthermore, Governor Otu highlighted the sense of solidarity that the citizens have shown towards the state government, noting that “your willingness to engage constructively demonstrates a level of maturity that is rare and invaluable in today’s society,” even as he emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the issues at hand more effectively.

The Governor also expressed his deep appreciation for the security agencies in the state, noting that “your mature handling of the situation has played a pivotal role in maintaining peace and safety during the course of the protest. I commend your enviable professionalism and vigilance. This no doubt underscore the importance of your dedication to protecting the citizens while respecting their rights.”

Otu enjoined Cross Riverians to carry forward the lessons learned during the period of the protest, emphasizing the importance of standing together in solidarity, civility, and understanding.

“Once again, I want to thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to the state, and together, we will continue to build a state that exemplifies the best of what can be achieved when we stand united and work towards a better future for Cross River State.”
