Chief of Air Staff Hasan Abubakar has revealed plans to deploy the Quick Response Wing of the Nigerian Air Force to the North-West region.
This is aimed at improving military presence in vulnerable communities and intensifying the fight against bandits.
The Air Force boss made the disclosure during an operational tour of the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI and the 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina State.
Abubakar disclosed that the Nigerian Air Force has escalated airstrikes against criminal elements in the North-West.
Abubakar said there is need for a comprehensive strategy to achieve lasting peace, stressing that military action alone cannot eradicate insurgency.
He also assured Katsina State Governor Diko Radda that the Air Force would continue to protect farmers in the state, particularly during the upcoming harvest season.
“The CAS highlighted the significant progress made in securing the state, noting that the recent planting season was largely free from interference by bandits, a feat attributed to the governor’s robust security measures,” a statement issued on Tuesday by the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, said.
