AIG cautions against use of SPY plate numbers

The Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone Six, Okunlola Kola Kamaldeen, has warned against using spy plate numbers in the zone.

The zone comprises Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

He cautioned that the ban against the use of spy plate numbers was still in force.

In a statement signed by the zonal PRO, DSP Nelson Okpabi, the AIG stressed that violators risk seizure of such plates, impounding of vehicles, and arrest of occupants.

He further called on the officers and men of the zone to be on the alert and should be disciplined.

Also in the statement, the AIG called on security stakeholders, members of Civil Liberty Organisations, captains of industries, the academia, and eminent persons to partner with the police and embrace the citizen-driven community policing policy of the IGP.

During his visit to Akwa Ibom State Command, he lectured officers and men on zero tolerance for assault on police officers, civility to members of the public and respect for human rights, non-partisan in political issues, fairness, and value neutrality in handling cases.
