After Ortom’s accusation, APC governorship candidate, Alia condemns attack

Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, has condemned recent attacks in Yelewata community, Guma Local Government Area of the state.

This is coming a few days after the state governor, Samuel Ortom called out the APC candidate, stating that he has never condemned any of the attacks happening in the state.

The governor in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser, Media & Publicity, Terver Akase, said Alia’s refusal to condemn attacks unleashed on Benue people, fueled speculations that he is being sponsored by enemies of the Benue people to deprive them of their ancestral lands.

Barely three days after the statement, Alia urged the state and Federal Governments to collaborate in addressing insecurity in the state.

Alia made the call in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Mr Kula Tersoo, Director of Communications, Alia/Ode Campaign Organization.

He said putting an end to the menace of wanton killings in Benue can be achieved by working together in providing adequate security.

The APC governorship candidate made the appeal following Wednesday’s attack by gunmen on Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area of the state.

Alia condemned the attack and expressed sadness that lives were lost and the locals made to suffer physical and psychological trauma.
