Aerial bombardments kill scores of ISWAP terrorists in Borno

The Nigerian military has sustained its onslaught against terrorists in the North-East, successfully neutralizing numerous ISWAP fighters in coordinated airstrikes near Lake Chad in Borno State.

According to military sources, the airstrikes were conducted on Sunday, June 18, 2023, targeting the river banks of Kwalaram, Bukar Mairam, Abbaganaram and Yarwa Kura in the Marte Local Government Area of the state.

The military was said to have achieved these decisive aerial bombardments through weeks of meticulous Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that exposed the locations of the terrorists.

It was also gathered that following the airstrikes by the troops of the Air Component, Operation Hadin Kai, ground assessments revealed that troops neutralized scores of the fighters and destroyed makeshift tents used by the terrorists as safe havens.

One of the sources was quoted as saying, “As the OPERATION WARUN campaign continues, the Nigerian military remains committed to securing the nation and protecting its citizens from the ongoing threat of terrorism.

“The successful airstrikes near Lake Chad demonstrate the military’s resolve and capabilities in reinforcing their position as a formidable force against terrorist organizations”.

Reports have it that similar airstrikes conducted last Friday by the Nigerian military along the fringes of Lake Chad in Borno State had succeeded in neutralizing two prominent ISWAP commanders, identified as Malam Bello and Malam Musa.
