Abductions: Police intensify operations to secure students in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police command has intensified operations to secure students in view of prevailing attacks on schools and abduction of students in parts of the country.

The Command is doing this through its invigorated School Protection Squad, SPS.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed Sunday morning that the renewed school security architecture is in compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.

Nguroje disclosed in a statement that the Commissioner of Police, CP Dakombo Morris, held interactive sessions with critical stakeholders and representatives of schools to draw a security ring across key government assets, schools and police facilities.

He explained that the CP, along with the Command’s school protection coordinator, embarked on a comprehensive assessment tour within the state, after which they reviewed the existing security arrangements and underscored the need for continuous improvement to ensure the safety and well-being of all persons utilizing the public institutions.

He said that the commissioner of police is building on the decision of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to suspend boarding services in schools by assessing and improving the security architecture on ground, and encouraging deployed personnel to maintain standard operational procedure and professionalism.

“Consolidating these efforts, the police boss directed all tactical teams, divisional police officers and their supervisory area commanders to cover all areas and conduct regular supervisory visits,” he added, explaining that the proactive measure is aimed at sustaining vigilance, strengthening coordination, and ensuring the early detection of emerging security concerns.
