Abducted Sokoto Monarch Appeals for Aid

The abducted district head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Bawa, has called on the state government as well as well-wishers to come to his rescue.

The district head was kidnapped alongside his son, brother and six others along Sokoto – Sabon Birni Road about 22 days ago.

In a 59-second video trending on social media on Saturday and obtained by our correspondent, the 74-year-old monarch appealed for his release from the hands of his abductors.

He said, “I want to call on my people, my lovers, my friends and my leader to know that it has gotten to the end today, Wednesday.

“So, if they want to help me, they should do so, I swear to Allah, these people too are tired of us, they have done all they could do but the government did not help us.

“I have been appealing to the government to help me but they didn’t, and I am their worker, over the years I have been working for the state government

“I am 74 years old today, and I have been working for the government for about 45 years now and it is all about traditional institutions”

Efforts to get the reaction of the state government to the development were not successful as both the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Col Ahmed Usman (retd.) and his counterpart from the information ministry, Sambo Danchadi, neither respond to calls nor reply to the messages sent to them.
